Ford engine to alpha gen2 need a little help

Hi, I have a 1994 bayliner with the 3.0/alpha gen 2. I' want to swap it out for a ford 302 I built with marine parts. I'm also changing the gear ratios and whatever else I need (interrupt switch etc) I'm not running water loggers also. I know that a ford bellhousing to alpha transom plate doesn't exist but I hear an mc-1 transom plate will adapt to a alpha? I can get the mc-1 plate and bellhousing for cheap. I also hear the ford engine coupler has same splines as alpha drive. Any one know if this will work?

I think you are going to have a hard time. The alpha gen 2 is different from the first gen that was close to the earlier drives. You should have built a chevy motor.

Thanks for the reply I have that option as well. I can build a chevy also and use the ford elsewhere I hear the bellhousing and transom plate are the same between the 3.0/4.3/v8

I've never looked to see if the flywheel housing is even near the same - and I have one of each in the shop, so I can compare. They are different part numbers and use different numbers of mounting bolts. I don't think you can use the flywheel housing from a 3.0L on any of the Chevy small blocks. I'll certainly look at them though, and see.

The transom plate and all the external parts are the same other than gear ratio of the drives.

I`ve swapped out 4`s for 6`s so a v8 should be the same housing. Where you will run into trouble is the spread of the rear motor mounts.
the flywheels were 12 and 14 inch and the rear housings were changed to acommodate this

Bt Doc nails it. My '90 3.0L flywheel housing is identical to my '93 4.3L GenII housing.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,..... Chevy motors, since 'bout '55 or so, ALL use the same block flange/ bellhousin' bolt pattern,....

The BBCs have an extra bolt hole, straight up center, but ya can just leave it out, if need be,....

From the 153", I-4, to the 502" BBC,..... ALL the same bolt pattern,.....
