Ford Error Code ?

[SS MAYFLOAT]

My 1996 E250 L6 300 is flashing 4 times on the airbag light. Everything seems to be running as it should. Have driven this van for over 160K and this is the first time the airbag light has flashed. The check engine light does not flash anything or even comes on except during pre start.<br /><br />Any Ideas?? Thanks

Hi, forget the BatAuto website, they don't entertain air bag questions, something about the liability issue, sorry.

I have had my problem posted over in the Ford forum. Still no answer. The code is 44. I don't think it is the clock spring since everything works on the steering column.<br /><br />I just put a piece of black tape over the light for now. Guess I need to plan to send it in to the shop.

not sure what the code is but as long as the air bag light is on the system is not supposed to work. it could very well be the clock spring it only powers the bag doesn't run anything else.

A CODE 44 IS FOR A RIGHT HAND FRAM RAIL AIR BAG PRIMARY SENSOR NOT MOUNTED PROPERLY, IE: LOOSE OR CORRODED

My 95 Aerostarr Airbag light came on and started flashing coming home on the freeway one night. Scared me 1/2 to death. Took it in and they cleaned some connections on the sensors and reset them. Hasn't happened again.

Hope you find this iboats forum a heap of good help and lots of friends.<br /><br />I have the van scheduled to go in for repair towards the end of the month. However with your reply, I just might find that sensor and check it out. You wouldn't happen to know about where it is located on the framerail of a 96 E250 would you? That sensor should be mounted to the outside of the right frame rail, between the right front door opening and the transmission crossmember. Thanks for the welcome aboard.
