Ford/Volvo Exhaust Test

I tested the Volvo/Osco manifolds to 15-20#. Basically they both held. One had the slightest leak (less than a drop in ten minutes at 17 PSI. I was wondering if I should let it go, you know, if it isn't broke why fix it. My reasoning was that if probably never has more than a few PSI.

Comments?

I believe it might have a slight leak at the pressure (15 to 20 PSI), more to do with the test. I doubt if it would leak at regular pressure. It showed no signs of a leak before. I have a gasket and can replace it if need be.

The manifold is 36 years old.

Well, if one held pressure it proves your gauge and regulator set up is tight, the other however slight has a leak, spray some soap bubbles on it and around all those drain fittings and find out where the air is escaping. If the manifold has a hairline crack somewhere it may open up once it gets hot, with any luck your leakdown is one of them drains or where your pipe threads.

I water tested it and it looked like a slight leak at the gasket. I will air test it tomorrow with soapy water.

Would you use permatex with a new gasket?

I pressurized them, tested with soapy water and not a leak.
