Insurance is always an active topic this time of year. One of the prevailing sentiments seems to be that insurance companies look for ways to deny claims, and that's certainly true in some cases. However, I'd like to give a shout out to Foremost who consistently gives me great service. Everyone I've worked with over the years (from my agent to claims personnel) has been pleasant, helpful and more than fair. So, if you're looking for boat insurance I encourage you to at least consider them. They're not the cheapest, but in my experience this is a clear case of "get what you pay for". I understand some prefer to "self insure", which is certainly a valid strategy in some circumstances, but I thought I'd just throw this out there in case anyone is looking for a real, unbiased opinion.

self-insuring the boat may make sense. Self-insurnig liability, never.

Absolutely. That's what I had in mind, but thank you for clarifying. Sadly there are those who don't agree.
