Re: forged or cast?
I don't know why you asked but I will add my 2-cents.
I always run cast pistons and a cast crank well up into the 300-hp range. Above that I use forged pistons, a forged crank, and better rods. Rpms come into play but not at or below 5000-rpm like a boat motor usually runs.
I steer away from hypereutectic pistons, they are high in silicon, are too hard and brittle, and take very little abuse before coming apart in many pieces for my liking.
This is just one old hot-rodders opinion
