well i was just looking at the manual and it say to crank the motor a few revolutions with the ignition system disabled to clear water out of the impeller housing, do i really need to do this?

I filled the hose from the impeller housing to the t-stat with AF and than drained the hose also pulled the hose from the drive going to the housing, but im worried there is water still trapped between the impeller fins that could freeze. so if i do need to drain this can i just take the housing off and drain into bilge as cranking the motor at this point is no option. thanks

Just crank the engine over a couple of revolutions, that all you have to do, no start or anything else.

thanks for the reply Don! the problem is i don't have the battery in the boat anymore and climbing up inside the boat and wrestling it back in at the storage warehouse isn't fun. what if i just took of the 3 flathead screws and 2 bolts holding the pump on and drained it that way?

Ten just loosen the pump cover and let the water drain out.

well i loosened the 4 8mm bolts off and some water came out but decided to take the pump right off....im glad i did. it seems to me somebody at the factory put the impeller in wrong, unless when it goes over the last hump it suppose to go the other way and than go straight again (dont think so) to me it looks like someone put one fin it wrong. you guys let me know. also im debating replacing it, but i was thinking i would get 1 more season on it as it only has 1 year and 65hrs on it. thanks
