Fouling or Flooding, Not sure?

I took my 67 Renken with my 67 Chrysler 55hp out last week to Lake Erie. I've worked out most of my bugs, thanks to this site, and the Chrysler ran great all week, until Friday.
In the morning the motor fires up no problem, I went on a decent run then shut her down. A bit later it won't fire. Plenty of gas, no spark. I pull the plugs, dry them (not really oily though) put em back and it starts. I try this several times and its the same. Harder to fire than it has all week.
I'm running 50:1 or 1 pint to 6 gallons of gas. New fuel tank, new gas, new fuel filter. I'm running new Champion L82C plugs. I went through one tank full with no problems. Even with the hard start once started it would run fine, fast, slow, idle no heistation etc. Not sure what the problem exactly is.
Any help would be appreciated!

does your idle speed seem high? The carb linkage that goes to the throttle tower there is an eccentric mini like barrel. This barrel needs to have a slight air gap at low throttle so that the carb throttle butterfly stays completely closed. If the air gap is not there your motor will be more prone to flooding when it is warm and turned off. Setting this correctly may sacrifice some top end speed however.

Thanks for the reply Eurolava, there isn't a gap at idle, I just went out and checked. The idle doesn't seem too high, but, I don't have much to base my idle speed on. I'll adjust it so the barrell has a gap and try her out. Thanks!

At the end of the throttle cam there is a nut with a screw. When you loosen the nut you will notice if you turn the screw it is off center (eccentric) Just adjust it so a piece of paper will slip between it at low idle. If your fuel pump has not been rebuilt you might want to do that as well. It is cheap and easy and after 30 years it is ready to be done. I do mine every 3 years and it always runs better afterwords.

I went out to adjust the idle screw, I moved it out so it wasn't touching the case and there still wasn't an air gap, the barrell was still touching the large cam lever. Should I adjust the tie rod linkage?

Ok, Makes sense now. Hopefully it will quit raining and I can make the adjustment.
