On the way to church tonite saw a boat that I need help identifying. Looks like it may be a Mariner but not sure, since I have never been next to one. Center console was offsett to the starboard side by maybe 6 to 8 inches. HIN #was STR 27545 M73I from what I could read in the dark. Length was not determined as I was overwhelmed by the fact that it was as big as it was. Boat is definitley a resto as floor, seats and overall interior was pretty rough even in the dark. Been following some of the resto pages and have been bitten by the bug to find a large tinny and jump in. Any help would be appreciated.

From the HIN we know it is a 73, but pictures are the real tell all.

This 1972 Mariner looks to have an offset 'center' console:

But pix will definitely help......

On the way to church, huh...... that was a sign, right?

The CC on my 73 Mariner is not offset.

A pure guess but I think you're looking at a converted boat. Would love to see some pictures.

Yeah, I thought it was a sign also. But looking at it the next morning...I may have been reading the sign incorrectly. The guy is asking $2500.00, $2600.00.......wait for it......if you want a title! WHAT! I think the sign was to keep looking. Transom was obviously shored up by bolting a steel angle to splash well. I guess boat has not been used in over 5yrs, has a Force 125hp I think. Rotted floor, control box falling apart and a bunch of other things going on. Since it was outside a storage facility I thought it might be going for something reasonable. In this condition I was thinking $500 to $600 tops if it had a title. Guess we will let it sit and see if it goes, maybe revisit if it is still there later in summer?

Perhaps you're right, the sign most definitely should have said someone needs a
realitycheck.gif
for sure.........

At $25-50/mo to store a project boat, it shouldn't take long for the price to drop if the owner's really attempting to get rid of it. Perhaps they aren't currently motivated.

Even your $5-600 sounds high if the motor won't fire and it's already had some layout changes made to it, unless they are top notch and well done.

Agreed. I am just gonna back burner this one and keep looking around. The hunt is almost as much fun as the acquiring.
