So I bought it... I'm not sure what year it is, but it looks just like my 72 under the cowl. I bought it because it give me a spare starter (the one on it works), electronics, distributor, cap, wires, etc. Everything is there except the wires that go to the coil/trigger/switchbox. It also came with a spare switch box. It HAS to be worth $100!!
The serial number is 4116092... can anyone use that to tell me what year it is?
I don't know about compression, since I wasn't worried about it, but the rotating mass turns over nicely. And it not only has the three carbs on it, but it has three spare carbs/bodies. The foot is good, the gears shift (checked that on the stand), and it is clean.
The guy I got it from took it off of a boat he bought; he's an OMC guy, so he had no use for it and wanted it out of his yard. It is/was a power trim motor, but the pump and all of those pieces are unfortunately not there.
