found me a 1985 starcraft, feedback?

1985 starcraft has the 2.5 120 hp omc drive. seller is considering trading even up more my 1984 bayliner trophy bass boat, he's asking 2500, says everything is great shape been stored and covered, was gonna go look at it tomorrw,

i've kinda got on the starcraft kick, but any feedback? I did talk to my mechanic and he said parts can be gotten but they are special order for the most part, but didn't feel that should be a deterrent to getting it

btw its not yellow but tan , pic has weird tint

Be careful. The shift cable is a bear to replace and about 600 bucks. I would keep the Bayliner and keep looking.

Lotta' folks would say the OMC is a deal killer. Personally, I'd have to be REALLY dedicated to owning the particular boat.

His Starcraft with a completely obsolete powerplant isn't worth $2500. Avoid.

I think your mechanic is right concerning parts availability. A quick check on line shows some venders that list just about any part you would need as still available for that OMC stern drive.

I wouldn't be afraid of it if the boat is in good shape and structurally sound.

Parts for OMC Cobras I believe can be found. OMC Stringers like it look like this one has, not as much and only going to get worse.

Ayuh,.... It only takes 1 part, with the part number, NLA, to brings things to a complete Stop....

Especially if it's the part you Need...

You're right. I thought 1985 was the first year of the Cobra.

If it's a Stringer, I'd pass too.
