Well besides the obvious Mercruiser 228 (Chevy 305) =P

Thanks for reading.

First off, new boat (to me) See sig for boat.

The previous owner said the trim worked.

FOUND OUT,the trim is "stuck" down.
Realized it this weekend on the water.

The motor whirs when one of the trim adjustment buttons is pushed.
Should have noted which,but I didn't.
But, thats all it does.

Now,luckily,I found out the the "ADULTS ONLY" section is actually a valuable resource and not spank material, and have already downloaded the manual.;)

I wonder...do these symptoms sound like something common or do I need to go ahead and print the manuals and settle for some study time?

Bonus!!
Boat stays in the water.

Re: Found out why my boats slow...

You will find all te info you need to keep your rig in tip top shape in the aults only but if you wish to print all that info out to read man @ least in my case thats allot of paper plus I usually just print what I nee when I need it and or read up from my stored files on the pc. But for the most part I would suggest reading all the troubleshooting info 1st and tying all the diagnostics before spending any $ because if you don't act wisely this recreation can get real exspensive real quick so act on the simple things 1st and least costly if possible if you get stuck you will definately get the best help here bythe way post exact drive train info make, model, displacement and serial # same info for the outdrive. good luck

Read the section of the manual for trim and tilt. A methodical trouble shooting method will make locating the problem much easier. It may just be a bad switch, a disconnected wire or corroded connection. The fact the motor whirs could mean a rather simple problem.

My outdrive stuck up last week after working fine, I would get a click by the pump and could not adust trim. I opened the engine cover and listened for the click again, saw a cable was actually shorting and sparking. My problem was loose cable.

Kinda makes me wonder...did you trailer the boat with the drive full down?
Never take a sellers word for anything...Test everything you can!
Sounds like no sea trial before the purchase either...

Yeah. No sea trial. My bad.
I'm novice, but learning fast.
Don't know about the oil level or any connections as of yet.
I'll attempt to trouble shoot this weekend.

As far as trailering...she stays in the water. Further complicating the matter.

Thanks for yall's input.

By the time you get thru fixing all the things you didn't know to check, you could have had that new boat.
