I found two plastic tubes in the water outlet of my 89 Force 125. Looks about 1/2" dia by 4" long with a split on one end. Are these parts to the water passages in the leg or something else?

Sounds like a water tube guide to me Smitty. The tube is placed in the pump outlet and guides the water tube in during reassembly.

Re: Found plastic tubes in water outlet

The real question is are they white color or black color? The description actually sounds to me like they are the black color plastic baffle tubes that are suppose to recess in two holes at the rear port and starboard corners in the midsection directly under the powerhead adapter plate/exhaust riser.
In other words, at some time in the past, a sloppy mechanic has had the powerhead off of this motor. During the process, he knocked the tubes lose and they fell down in the midsection. (They cannot fall down there without the powerhead being off.) He then reinstalled the powerhead without ever dropping the lower unit or checking the water pump, etc. and was oblivious to the fact that they were missing when he installed the powerhead.
You will have to remove the powerhead to reinstall them. They are suppose to have metal retention clips with them. Are those intact?

The tubes mentioned are white in color, but it seems the powerhead may have to come off to reinstall them correctly. Any other possibility?

Not trying to steal this thread but what exactly are the tubes for? Will this effect the way that the engine runs?

Re: Found plastic tubes in water outlet

Hi all. I, also found these two tubes inside the water outlet of my 1989 125hp. From the o.e. parts book I have they are called "Stand Tubes". Unfortunately, I am not sure of their purpose. I called my tech to ask and he had no clue. My personal opinion is that they have something to do with keeping water level constant during low rpm, but please do not quote me on that!! I also want to know if they are critical items, as I am running engine without them.
