We were looking for something else and found this, it looks like it was hardly ever used, very good condition, the seller says it runs but what do you all think about buying one of these? I've looked at a couple of on line parts places and it appears that you can get most replacement parts (carb kits, impellers)...he wants about $300 or so for it....

Does look to be in nice shape, and parts are easy to come by. Price is steep tho, and i dont see the pressure tank in the photo? Also it looks like a 1954/55 model

Nice looking motor there, how is it under the hood?

It's worth whatever you are willing to pay for it... but $300 doesn't sound too unreasonable (to me) if it's original and pristine.

Great old outboard. I would want a pressure tank and fuel line with it and try to get it for $200 or less. The $300 asking price is too high without an on-the-water demo.

That is a model CD-13, one of the great ones.

It does look really nice, as stated already look under the hood, look really hard at all surfaces to see if the motor was restored with just a coat of paint. If it was ( they did a nice job of that!) but was the internals redone? Just something to look for.

Entirely possible, nwcove. I ignored the color and just believed the OP.

It's a 1954, cd10 or 11. Silver trim, green prop. 1955 would be cream trim.

I just sold a CD12 for $300 which didn't look that good, but I went through the motor and replaced the coils, points, condensers, wires, water pump impeller and lower unit seals. Cleaned carb and replaced fuel lines. It also came with a rust-free 4 gallon pressure tank. I'd want to see it running or at least check compression and check lower unit for water intrusion for that price.

Those are great motors!
I have a 1955 CD12 that is the first classic Johnson in My collection.
Its the motor I take fishing the most.
Parts are easy to get.
And the're easy to work on.
It will probably need coils and water pump impeller, so try to get the price down.
Good Luck with it.
