If they are both in exactly the same condition (hard to imagine), sea test them and you might find a differentiation. Which overall layout do you like better for what you want to use it for?

The Winns has the Volvo 5.7 GSI with SX and the Glastron has the 5.7 GSI with Duoprop. Want to be able to stay overnights on the weekends yet still have a sporty boat that we can fish from.

Hard to tell from limited info in OP, but if just going by that cursory description and condition is equally great, then the Glastron may be worth the extra $3k based upon the bigger dimensions and additional options. Powerplant specs? Canvas, electronics, other options? Trailer condition? Will it be towed or slipped? If towed, is your rig capable of towing these alternatives?

The DP is a fairly big advantage, alone it is perhaps not worth the incremental price difference, but that plus the extra 2' and other options may make it so. On the "respect" front, some might put 4 Winns ahead of Glastron for fit and finish, but at this age craft, it's more about the condition and prior care. Which fitment appeals to you most? Same quality and condition of gel, upholstery, electronics, hardware? If the '99 winny's fitment looks equal or better, then that suggests it is either higher quality to start, or it was better cared for, or both. What does your better half think?

Sadly she likes them both as well. We really like the Four Winns but find the exterior rather clunky and unattractive and the same could be said about the Glastron. You have to wonder with the same engines and much more options why the Glastron depreciated so much.

If there really is not much difference, I would go with the less expensive one. You'll have an extra $3K for fitting it out the way you want (there are always things to buy) and gas.

Thanks that's very good advice we just get a bit swayed by all the extras on the Glastron like AC. Both are not really attractive boats but the 4W looks very clunky to us.

Don't know where you live, but for a weekend boat, I'd get the AC and extra 2'. Let us know...

If you don't like the looks of either keep looking. There are lots of boats out there. I am not sure where you are but most places are getting to the end of season and so there is not much boating left. You have all winter to find the "one".

didn't Glastron go no wood in the stringers? If so I'd vote that one - plus AC (and I'm assuming heat) is a big plus.

Yes no wood but it seems there's very little resale value in Glastrons. Not sure why they don't get the respect they used to.

AC, dual props and 2' bigger vs clunky looking that is a no-brain choice

put blue painters tape over the name if you dont like the name.

Funny story - had a friend wit a 26' Bayliner and of course we all know Bayliners are crap boats (I've owned four). After a couple years he removed the Bayliner stickers (can't remember the impetus for that) and he was amazed at all the compliments on the boat after that.
