I have a 93 Four winns Freedom 180 with a just rebuilt Johnson 115. I have a 13X19 prop and am currently getting 32mph on my GPS. I would think this boat would get closer to 40 or above according the manual. No water logged foam. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Puzzling!!! Assuming a clean bottom, rpm's sound about right for that year motor!!

Do you have PT&T?? How are you using it? Poor trim is worth -10mph any day.

Yes i haave PT&T and tried all combinations, the cav plate is set right it seems, so motor height isnt a issue.

It seems a data point is wrong somewhere??

I found a resource that says your outdrive ratio is 2 to 1. Can you or anyone confirm true or false?

If true...

Prop calculator says you have a theoretical top speed of 49 mph at 5,500 rpms. If you are only getting 32 that means you have a whopping 35% slip! That is so poor it is essentially unrealistic.

This means at least one of the following figures is absolutely incorrect:

Pitch
RPM
Speed
Drive ratio

I have no idea which data point(s) causing the problem.

Can you confirm your tach is set correctly and reading correctly? I suspect a possible error here, assuming your GPS was reading speed correctly.

And if I am wrong about drive ratio, then my comments here are of no value. Can anyone cofirm?

I will try and verify the tach this weekend. Its a new tach, and according the directions install correctly.
