you were dead on the timing suspicion, heres some pics.

The firs two show with flywheel marks lines up
The next two shows what flywheel looks like with pulley marks lined up!

I'm tickled to the extreme can't wait to find out how this motor should run!

I agree, FR is an absolute asset to this forum. He not only helped me last year on this site, but was willing to discuss things with me on the phone.
