For any and all iBoaters out there that are interested in possibly starting a winter project building a wooden boat, I found this vintage FREE boat plans site that has some unique plans. I particularly like the "Pontooner" plans under the HouseBoat section. It's a 12 ft. pontoon boat with a unique pyramid pontoon design. Looks to be a very stable and structurally sound design that I might have to take a look at when I retire. Looks like you could purchase wood, glass and foam for about $1,000 bucks and have a very nice little 4 person pontoon boat that could handle about a 20 -25 hp outboard. I think the Motor Mount might need a bit of a re-design but that shouldn't be too much of a problem!!! Check it out and all of the other Vintage Designs!!!

Thanks for sharing man. Word of advice to anyone who is interested - or contemplating ? download what you like now. These site tends to disappear once the domain reservation is due for renewal and the owner figures it is not worth it to keep it up.

Wood, I never thought you are not retired, how in heavens name you get the time to work and ?live? here? :)

Deep, maybe what WOG is actually saying is he was tired yesterday and he is retired today, or something like that! :noidea:

Just an Old Timey Brand Name for a AirCraft Dope Brand. Used for Waterproofing Canvas etc... Aircraft dope is a plasticised lacquer that is applied to fabric-covered aircraft. It tightens and stiffens fabric stretched over airframes, which renders them airtight and weatherproof.[SUP][1][/SUP]
Typical doping agents include nitrocellulose, cellulose acetate and cellulose acetate butyrate. Liquid dopes are highly flammable; nitrocellulose, for instance, is also known as the explosive propellant "guncotton". Dopes often include colouring pigments to facilitate even application, and are available in a wide range of colors.[SUP][citation needed][/SUP]
Dope has been applied to various aircraft fabrics, including madapolam,[SUP][2][/SUP] but also more recently on polyester and other fabrics with similar fine weave and absorbent qualities

Okay WOG, I still have a quarter of airplane dope. Why? I honestly don't know anymore. I used to build R/C aircraft, but got into the hobby about the time dope and fabric were being replaced with MonoKote Econokote, Coverite, and heat shrinking plastics like those. But I never threw out that quart of airplane modeling dope. :noidea:

Thanks Wood I've seen similar products referred to in those old plans and always thought it was just a common paint.

Freudian slip maybe? Do you mean quart?

Just in case anyone's interested, I've got some really good detailed plans for building a flat bottomed plywood John Boat that allows you to build it anywhere from 10' up to 16' with a 30" to 48" bottom. Let me know if you're interested and I can send you a link to download the plans.;)

Hey, I HAD one earlier this summer but...I don't think you woulda wanted it!!! Davy Jones rejected it!!!! When the guy came to pick it up the ADMIRAL had to talk him into taking it once he got here. The pics I posted on CL were so much better than what it actually was he was a bit dissappointed. I TOLD everyone in the descriptive text in the ad that it had Holes in the hull, the glass was delaminating and the glass was totally decayed from years of Sun Bleaching but he still came sooooo she told him he needed to haul if off. HE DID!!!! I kinda felt bad for him. She can be VERY PERSUASIVE when she's in the mood!!! She WAS!!!!
