hi, i'm brand new to this forum and i have a 19?? chrysler 55 hp. i know almost nothing about outboards altho i am a mechanic for a paychek loljust wondering if there is a site or page where i could get me some info and pictures on how to set/adjust timing, and throttle/shift cables and such. it's hooked up on a 16 foot aluminum boat and if i go fer a boot an 18 hp merc will pass me after waiting 5 minutes. how do i set the screw for the rich/lean? where do i look for model/year info? i'm up in canada and where do i get parts for these as far as impellers and fuel pumps go? the water and ehaust come out of a hole about half way up the leg, but comes out in a spray more than a stream is that normal??? see so many questions i need answers to. any help would be very much appreciated this is the 3rd chrysler i have put on this boat and so far the best runner i got. also how do i know if i have the motor mounted at the right height? the transom is 20 inches and the motor is a longshaft. thanks again.

Re: free downloadable manuals

Welcome to Iboats. I will hit a few of the many questions you have. There are no free manuals. Try the chrysler crew. You can buy a downloadable parts and factory service manual from them for a decent price. If not them try and find a Clymer manual. ID plate for that motor should be mounted on the lower cowling around the carburator. Does your motor have one or two carburators? Mixture adjustment screw for the carb should be above the choke plates. It is a recessed slotted screw A good starting point is turn clockwise till lightly seated and back off about 1 1/4 turns counter clockwise. Find the midpoint between the motor racing or coughing.
Chrysler parts can be had from BAM, Doug russell and some of the parts from here at Iboats. NAPA sells basic fuel pump and carb kits as well
