Reading an article on the Johnson repair board about Wyraps made me remember this tip, and I thought I would share.

When you cut a Tywrap with wire cutters or diagonal cutters (dikes) if you cut the Tywrap by the edge it will not cut you open and make you bleed like it does if you cut it on the flat side.

Yup, there's nothing that will draw blood faster than a razor sharp tie strap end. Well maybe the tag end of a stainless hose clamp.

I bought a set of flush cutting side cutters that I use to cut the tag end flush with the head. There is nothing sticking out to slash you.

The other trick that I use is to take my small butane torch and melt the end of the cut off tie strap. It leaves a nice rounded edge.

You can also grab the tag end with pliers and twist ti off, it will take 5 or 6 revs but it leaves asafe nub.

Just trim the tag end off flush with a razor knife.
