can anyone tell me where the freeze outs are on a 86 merc 140?.. are they by the starter and if so can they be replaced without removing the engine? thanks....
Freeze plugs can sometimes be replaced in the boat. Sometimes they can't. We can't see your access and we don't know what boat you have. If the engine is down in a bilge you'll most likely have to remove it. I prefer to remove the engine. It isnt that big a deal.
well i had the engine removed twice last year . once for the hot pipe and then again for what i thought was the same thing but turned out being the rubber boots.. both at a pop of 700 bucks to pull the engine out so im trying to avoid that.. when i started her up a bunch of water came out of where the starter goes into i guess meeting the flywhell. it dissipated and then when giving it throttle more came out and after a few seconds i didnt see any more water.. but i am running on muggfs on a trailer..
