I have a 73 glastron /w 455 olds, it has never been in salt water, and the heads have just been redone. I was thinking about instaling a fresh water system on it, my question is, at the age of the engine should i go ahead and do it, or not? When i had the heads off i looked into the water jackets and it was ok with very little rust. the shortblock was redone about 2 years ago. thanks, dave

From your previous post about head gaskets and freeze plugs, I would go to the fresh water cooling unless you are sure you have the proper head gaskets, intake manifold gaskets (if the 455 has metal inserts in the water passages) and a marine cirulation pump. Otherwise I think you may be setting yourself up for a new engine.
