I have a lot of friction when rotating the trolling motor and was wondering how to adjust it. To adjust the tension on the motor shaft should I adjust knob A or B as identified in the picture. I feel like if I screw B out too much the metal bracket will fly open and there goes the motor in the water.

I don't have your motor, but have a couple of transom mount MGs. Knob B should be the tension control. The screw should press against a piece of plastic/nylon friction pad that puts pressure against the shaft. If your screw is contacting the shaft directly, it will bite into the shaft and mar it up. Back off on the screw a couple of turns, and then turn the trolling motor back and forth, and up and down, a few times to loosen up the friction pad. Try adjusting it while it is in your driveway.
