You've seen the commercial. A guy backs his boat up into the lake, launching it solo from his truck. As the boat begins to slide off the trailer into the water, he casually leans out the driver's side door and presses a button on a hand-held remote. As the boat continues to drift out, the trolling motor deploys itself and then holds his boat in place as he pulls away to park.

That is the Minn Kota Ulterra with Auto Stow and Deploy and Power Trim offer truly hands-free operation from start to finish, from anywhere on (or off!) your boat. And now it's available in the corrosive-resistant strength and durability of Minn Kota's Riptide saltwater line.

All that control can be done at the push of a button from the remote control that is part of Minn Kota's i-Pilot GPS navigation system, which comes pre-installed on every Riptide Ulterra model. The i-Pilot system gives you complete control of speed and steering, plus the ability to record and retrace paths, electronically anchor onto a fishing spot with Spot-Lock, stay precisely on a heading, dial in and adjust speeds for optimum bait presentation, and showing off to your friends.

The base Riptide Ulterra model starts at 80-lbs. of thrust and will run on a 24-volt battery system. These models are able to pull boats weighing up to 4,000 lbs. and up to 25 feet in length. If you need something with a little more oomph, Minn Kota also offers Riptide Ulterra in 112 lb. models - making it one of the most powerful motors on the water. 112 lb. models run on a 36-volt battery system and will pull boats weighing up 5,000 pounds and up to 25 feet in length.

All this power is sure to take its toll on your battery system, but Minn Kota has got you covered there as well, with an innovative line of on-board battery chargers. Minn Kota's Precision Chargers are available in 1-, 2-, 3-, and 4- bank models, each with 6-, 10-, and 15-amp output options per bank. They all have the ability to charge different battery types off each bank simultaneously, for a fast, precise charge avoiding any potential battery damage.

Precision Chargers also feature air temperature and low-line voltage compensation. These features allow the charger to recognize when weather conditions fluctuate or incoming voltage is less than ideal for charging, and prompt it to adjust the charge accordingly to prevent damage to your batteries and ensure that they receive a steady, proper charge.

Once you choose the Riptide Ulterra and Precision Charger that's right for you, all that's left is to get it onto your boat. Fortunately, Minn Kota provides a few options for that as well. Riptide Ulterra can be mounted directly to the bow of your boat fairly simply using just a few hand tools. Alternately, a quick release bracket lets you easily remove the motor after installation to store away or swap it out with a different model. The low-profile design leaves your deck clear when the motor is removed, and includes a locking handle with stainless steel pins for optional, added security.
