i see a lot of ficht blocks and powerheads being sold on E-bay for cheap.

so i was thinking is it posible to take a 1999 150 ficht block and use it to rebuild a carbed 150 60*OIS
i know the blocks are very simular.
just want to know if everything would work out.
concidering port timing, cylinderheads from carbed to ficht block compression?? , pistons clearance.

just a tought.

ive been looking for a cheap block for a while and all i see are fichts.

I do believe that they are SIMILAR but not the same, without an OEM parts manual for both to comapre, then you will need a real "expert" to tell you for sure if they are the same, I know when looking for exchange blocks and short engines they are always listed as being different!

It can, and has, been done. You'll have to make some mounting provisions for some components. It's more common to put Ficht or DI sleeves in a carb'd block to aquire the desired port timing. (Or port the existing carb'd block & sleeve)

Re: from ficht to carb

so if i understand it correctly, the port timing is not the same.?
this need to be changed from the ficht block to the carbed version .
how would i do that?
resleeving is way to costly.

or am i missing something?

I understood the Ports to be different, even though the blocks are SIMILAR, they are not the same, this happens with a lot of HP Engines that share a "family" block but have different HP, a lot od people try to get a cheap higher HP out of their old Motor and end up with a bag of trouble rather than a better Engine.

No the port timing is different. That's why folks want the Ficht blocks for their carb'd motors -- to get the better porting. It can be done either way - but it's not a direct swap.

Outside of some fabricating, not much. The fabricating can get pretty intense, it just depends on what kind of equipment (welder, mill etc) you have available.
