I had a 115hp murcury on my boat but it was stolen from my Ranger bass boat. I replaced it with 70hp evinrude. Frist off I know nothing about boat motors, forgive me i have several questions...I have the motor mounted and all the hardware connect. The problem that I am having is with the wiring. Since I had the Murcury mounted all the wire connectors are for a murcury hook up. I guess my first question would be is there some sort of adapter that I can use that would go from murcury to evinrude to hook up my tech, speed gage and so forth...

thanks,

Re: From Murcury to Evinrude

First, congrats on coming back over from the dark side :D

You need a set of johnson/evinrude controls with the correct wiring harness for your 70. The good news is that they are very common and you should have little trouble finding a good set used on craigslist.

I doubt very much there is an adapter to make your merc controls work with the johnny/rude.

What year is your motor? I absolutely love the 3 cylinder 70hp evinrudes. They are an excellent, lightweight, powerfull and reliable motor that is very easy to work on.
