From the lake to the gulf

I just recently finished my restore of a 1974 15' trihull. This summer I'll be taking it down to the gulf coast to do some fishing with family. I've read that I should grease up all exposed parts, and flush it with fresh water when I'm done. Is there anything else I should be aware of when going into salt water? I'll be staying on the bay side.

The house will have a boat slip. I am considering leaving the boat in the water while I'm there. It would be a total of 4 days. The boat doesn't have bottom paint. But I've heard that it shouldn't matter for just a few days.

Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks

Flushing with fresh water is always a good idea after its been in salt.

Bottom paint is not needed for four days.

Go fish!

He's right. And don't worry about it if you don't; your boat is made for salt water. Forexemple, you can't flush the motor while it's inthe water.Won't matter.

But do be sure you have the proper annodes (zincs) or fresh ones. Older boat can have electrical leaks. If you have a battery switch that's a good idea to use it. Don't worry if you don't.

I only run one battery. I don't have a switch, but it's easy enough to unhook the positive at the end of the day.

I don't know much about anodes. I know my trim tab is zinc, and I figured that there was a reason. Looks like I have something new to research. Time to start reading.

Thanks again for the help.
