Re: Front Brake job on 2004 chy sebring
News to me as far as the known problem with hotspots goes. We turn the rotors all the time and the jobs last between 25,000 and 40,000 miles using the factory rotors and value line pads. I haven't seen any "hotspot" problems at all. Nothing special about your '04 sebring, either as far as doing the brakes goes. But I think the ceramic pads require a different break-in procedure and they don't stop very well until they are broken in.

25k is not unuf for me, 40k is well acceptable, if the roter/s did not have hard spots I would turn them, but hard spots come back fast. I have always used soft pads when doing a brake job to keep were off the roters, so the brake in is a concern. Just my luck, get the last one with bad roters

the old roters might be recoverable with a heat treat, but why? I took an older roter to a metalurgist and had a brinell test ran on it, it had hard and soft places in it, so any time I get this pulse I just plan to replace roters and pads, and no OEM! I like to use the canadian made replacement/s, never had a problem with them, hope these work out as well!
I have heard if you get the ceramic pads too hot they will stop working???
