Ok guys, I have this rubbing noise coming from my front driver side (I think) on my 2002 Tahoe. Took it to the dealer who said nothing was wrong.

It is something with the tires because it increases and decreases with speed. It's kind of a pulsating noise.

I just had the tires rotated. Could it possibly be a warped rotor, or maybe bad wheel bearing? I have even heard it could be the front diff? I really have no idea and unsure of the severity. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Is a metal to metal rubbing, does it sound like a tire rubbing the inner fender? What does it sound like?

Did it start before or after you had the tire rotated? All the tires are the same size??

Re: Front end rubbing noise (02 tahoe)

FYI
I have a 2002 Silverado 2500 and had to have all new brakes and rotors replaced two years ago. The dealer indicated this was an inherent problem with the metal used in their brakes for the 2002 model year. Fortunately, everything was replaced within warranty parameters which didn't cost me a dime.

As per the context of your post, your problem may or may not be related. I noticed my braking distance compromised. So when I brought it in for tires and asked them to look at my brakes, they found the discs were pitting from the inside out which was causing the brakes to crunch the rust. I then brought it to the dealer to verify the problem and requested they replace them under warranty since the truck only had about 30K miles on at the time.

Hello, Is it a 4x4? Maybe front halfshaft out of balance or damaged/defective CV joint.

Is it possible that the noise is from feathered tires? Run your hand over the thread area and feel for steps or ledges in the grips.(usually on the outside of the tire) This will cause the noise you describe...

Thanks for all the replies. It's hard to tell if the noise is metal rubbing or not. It is a 4X4. the rotors do not seem pitted, so not sure if its rotors. Might be something with the 4X4. I'll keep checking... Thanks. Any more things to check?
