In the process of removing my old engine from my '89 Glastron I found the nuts on the engine mounts were rusted beyond removal from the studs. So I went ahead and pulled the entire mount from the boat so I could replace it. The current mounts are liquid filled and replacements run $150 each, but I have found newer types of mounts that range from $35-$50 depending on the weight they can hold.

My questions are do I have to stick with the liquid mounts or can they be different and if I go different what weight strength should I get, 350lbs or 500lbs?

The reason for the liquid filled mounts is those 4.3 engines did not have the balance shaft. The liquid mounts absorbed a lot of the vibration from those engines.

Re: Front engine mount 4.3L Mercrusier

The previous owner of my boat replaced the original motor with a '92 4.3L that had balance shaft several years back from what I can tell. I figured it would be easier to replace that motor with one just like it rather then going with an '89 and having to buy all new parts. So I guess my question would be if the new motor has the balance shaft would there be that much extra vibration if I don't use the liquid filled engine mounts?
