I just bauhgt a 1977 johnson 35 hp engine. It has an electric start which works fine. I am getting good spark. With the throttle set to the idle position and I try to start the motor I get quite a bit of fuel coming from the choke area. There is also some coming from a reservoir which is marked "1977spark advance 34 degrees:...It's almost as if the engine is getting too much fuel and flooding itself. Can anyone please help me??? I would appreciate any advice..

Thanks NCFisher

You need to rebuild the Carb. using the proper rebuild kit, available at your nearest Johnson dealer! Good Luck,

Yup, you need to rebuild the carb. On the bright side, though, your fuel pump appears to be working great! I'm betting the float is stuck, allowing the pump to just pump fuel right on through the whole system, right out the front of the carb...
- Scott
