Fuel delivery Questions 1975 25hp

I have a 1975 25hp model # 25502B that i have been rebuilding well I finally got it to run and it runs good for a minute then starts to cough when I squeze the primer its a little soft but firm up and starts running good again is this a defective primer or a fuel pump issue thanks

Normanally if you have to squeeze the primer bulb to keep the engine running, you have a defective fuel pump. Have you checked the output of the fuel pump, is the filter screen clean?

No I have not checked it out the guy I bought motor from said He installed new fuel pump maybe not right though I will take a look thanks
