Hi,

Mercury 50HP, 2001 4-stroker on a Pontoon boat.

The motor has run fine, but last week i went WOT and ran fine but obviously went from 4 cyl. to 3 cyl.,,, so i shut it down and squeezed the bulb on the fuel line and noticed it seemed empty and took 6 or so sqeezes to get hard, i then went to drivers seat and started no issue,, and ran like a champ. Now every other start on the water i have to squeeze that bulb before starting to assure all 4 cyl will fire. (Definetly fuel issue here).

This must be a easy one for someone,,, why is the fuel running back in tank ? There seems to be no fuel leaking in or around motor, i just installed a new fuel line and bulb....

?: Fuel pump diaphragm ???? tear letting in air, but yet enough to still pump some fuel ?????

OK, if new primer bulb, suspect air leak between primer bulb and tank.
