fuel enrichment valve not working .. float stuck???

its an 88 200 merc. i cant get the motor to go ten feet with out the thing boggin down and then dyin.. when i start it and push the key in to choke it theres no difference leading me to believe the FEV is not getting fuel<br />any ideas???

The FEV might not be the only thing not getting fuel. Disconnect the line between the fuel pump and carb and see if the pump iz pumpin'. How about the pressurizing bulb? Does it pump up?<br /><br />c/6<br />Hooty

yes the bulb pumps up and holds pressure

Use your volt meter and see if you're getting 12vdc to the valve when you push the key in.<br /><br />c/6<br />Hooty

yes and i hear it click when i energize it.. also when i pull the top hose from the carb bowl to the FEV and pump the primer theres no fuel commin out

can the needle get stuck in the seat and prevent fuel flow?

ok lemme answer my own questions .... the float may have been stuck but more likely it was just out of adjustment cause i took it apart again and saw it was not even with the other float which was 1/16th below the carb face and its flowing just fine now

Here I go again...Sorry..<br />Is FEV fuel enrichment valve?<br />Unless you are doing a whole lot acrobatics to start this motor,it won't work unless the FEV functions.It acts as a choke.If you can't choke a two stroke,it won't start.
