Hi folks,
do you change the fuel filter at the end of the season or just before it starts ?
Thanks

Re: Fuel filter change

Probably best to change it at the start of the season.
The 'new to me' boat was sitting over 1-1/2 yrs before I bought it. The first thing I did when I brought it home was to change the filter and a day later this is what I found. Can you image what would have happened to the carbs .

I would suggest the installation of an inline water seperator type file if you have a built in tank. If you spend the extra money and go with a Racor, you can see if there is anything in the filter and just drain it, unless of course you are suck leaves like the above filter. With the small inline filter like above, change it when junk appears like it did above. Clean fuel is a must.

If you have a Racor, you can see if there is anything in it, if not,I would do one now and then annualy. I had always used the cannister type and I know I changed them way more than needed. I now have a small Racor which sits in the engine well where I can easily see if it ok.
