Fuel filter intake popping out - Mercury 9.9 outboard

Would really appreciate some help with this one. I have a 2002 Mercury 9.9 outboard and the fuel intake keeps popping out. It "clicks" in, but then almost immediately pops out when we start moving and the motor cuts out. I don't know that I'm naming the parts correctly, hope the picture is clear[/FONT][FONT=&quot]. Is this a faulty part or should it be secured in some way? Thanks in advance![/FONT]

A lot of these connecters now look the same but are not.----------Make sure the clip is going into the groove to retain it.--------Visit a Mercury shop and get the correct one.

Thanks for the quick reply, much appreciated. I should have given a bit more context. This clip was functioning properly for years beforehand, just seems to have started popping out now. Is it possible to replace and if so, what part should I order? Having trouble figuring it out.

Any marine supply store with have the connectors, so will Walmart and many other similar stores, you should be able to find one easily.

​Cut the old one off the end of the hose and take it with you.

The engine connector might be worn out.
