What is a good filter for my 1986 Force 125? Automotive types, or special? Is flow resistence a real concern. The recent post about the fried #4 scared the daylights out of me. Also, is there something with a visable bowl so I can see if its trapping anything. Sediments in the built-in tank are my chief concern, and I rarely use more than 1/2 tank prior to refilling. Thanks for any info. Harley

Re: Fuel filter recomendation

The cheap, plastic, see-thru filters that sell for around 3 bucks at Wal-Mart, K Mart, Pep Boys, NAPA etc. will flow more fuel than the engine will ever demand. Put one in line AFTER the fuel pump, BEFORE the carbs, and out of the way of the control cables.

If you are the type that has money to burn, buy the 11 buck glass filter with replaceable elements and chrome ends. Usually comes with three different sized fittings. Screw in the 3/8 size fittings into the chrome ends.

AND DON"T PLAY WITH THE CARBS! This is one of the faster ways to lunch an engine.

Re: Fuel filter recomendation

Frank, Thanks for the help, I was just worried about starving the engine of gas. I just got carb kits , so thats all the the mcuking around with them I will do. I probably will opt for the glass bowl type if its not to clumsy to install. Maybe I should do the fuel pump as well. Harley

Walmart has the fancy see through glass element filters for $7. I just bought one.
