Fuel Filter/Water Seperator

I have a 2003 Yamaha 175 HPDI. I spent all day trying to get the fuel/water seperator to seal back up after changing the filter. I even tried putting the fuel cup in the freezer trick as I heard the ethanol fuel can absorb into plastic making them expand. Now not only is it leaking through the top when I prime the ball it is leaking at the bottom as well. Do they use some sort of sealent on these cups to seal them...? Any ideas...? I am about ready to purchase another cup/filter,Black nut, & "O" ring. This is getting costly!

Did you wipe anything on the O ring(s) before installation?

Sasto, no I did not put anything on the "O" ring. I was concerned about getting something in the fuel. Would you put oil on it? However, it is also leaking out of the bottom.

replace the cup.
usually if you let them sit on the bench overnight they will go back on.
if you use anything on the oring use a dab of 2 stroke oil.

Thanks! I will give it a try again tonight. If I can't get it to seal I am going to purchase a new cup, ring nut, and "o" ring. Do you know if the cup comes with the bottom portion and "O" ring (White Stick with "O" ring)?
