Hello to all. Getting ready to do some maintenance on the 2003 Stingray 185 and was wondering about installing a water separator on the boat. I am sure I only have the carb inlet filter since my fuel pump is not the bale type. If I'm wrong on that please correct me. The aftermarket or Mercruiser separator looks like it has a predrilled bracket on it. Is it made to be a direct bolt up to the 3.0 with already existent mounting holes in the engine? Just figured it would be a good addition and preventive maintenance. If anyone has experience with it your help would be great.

Re: Fuel filter/water seperator

not sure on this one but i think the bracket is for mounting it somewhere of your chosing... not already a predetermined spot.

i had a mercruiser 120 and my filter/separator was mounted on the transom... hmmm, come to think of it, i don't think it was mounted at all... just up against the transom.
