I purchased a boat a few months ago and found out the fuel gauge doesn't work. I tested the gauge itself and there is continuity through the whole gauge, so the problem has to be with the fuel float.
here's the problem, the person I bought the boat from sealed the whole floor with one sheet of plywood and covered it all in fiberglass so there is no access panel. I need to know approximately where the fuel float is in relation to the doghouse (engine cover) so that I can make a whole to 1) install an access panel and 2) more importantly replace the fuel float.
I have a 1987 Four Winns with a MerCruiser 165HP 4cyl engine.
I was told by someone at a boat shop that it should be about 12 inches from the engine cover dead center in the middle of the floor but I want a second opinion because you can't "undrill" a hole.
(Also if i am posting in the wrong forum please let me know - I am a little new to iboats)
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
