A guy came by the shop awhile back and said he had just got back from the beach. He told me while he was there, he had stopped at a gas station where he saw a fire truck foaming down a boat next to the fuel pumps. The boat hadn't caught fire but they told him there was a man filing up with fuel while talking to somebody. He had pumped 40 gallons of fuel into his rod holder. Needless to say that was a wasted trip to the coast.

I'm glad I have a little portable 6-gallon gas tank for my water ride.

I'd hate to make that mistake!

what's the deal with the rod holder/fuel filler mistakes; how many rod holders have caps, or fuel tanks don't have 'em?

Jtexas, I think it has less to do with looking similar and more to do with the state of mind of the captain, likely drunk or worse.
