I got everything with the engine running good now and then all of the sudden i see gas coming from the middle carb right out of the front of the barrel. was wondering if somebody could give me a direction to start looking. this is on a merc 1500 inline 6. thanks in advance for the help

justin, sounds like a bit of trash under the needle holding it open, flooding or a stuck needle if the engine has been sitting for a while......sometimes a gentile tap on the side of the carb while its running will loosen it up if its stuck.not a 3 # sledge a light tap....good luck

well the weird thing is is its been running with no problem like this and then all of the sudden bam its leaking out the front of the carb. I have had the float out and cleaned the bowl and floats and things like that. This needle you speak of. how exactly can i get to it to check?

The inlet needles are located in the carb bowl covers. You need to remove the starter to get at them more easily. Watch that you do not lose the float levers. Inspect the float. The original ones are foam and deterioate in today's gasoline. The replacement floats are hard plastic and crack.

Sounds like you need a good carb rebuild/cleaning.
