I bought a fuel gauge and 16 gal tank off ebay for my 17' cc. The gauge is a 3 pole ground, sender, and ign. The tank has a sender an a ground. with all hooked up the gauge does not work. If touch the sender on the tank the gauge works. If I touch the ground to the sender it pegs out to max and stays there> any sudgestions?

Re: Fuel Gauge Ground

Sounds like you don't have a good ground at the tank.

Re: Fuel Gauge Ground

Assuming the gauge is good (and it seems it is), then if you disconnect the sender wire at the tank and touch it to the ground at the tank, the gauge should peg. If not, the tank ground is bad. If the gauge does peg when the sender is grounded at the tank (proving that both the tank ground and the gauge are good), and the gauge doesn't work when wired correctly, the sender in the tank is bad.
