Why would you run a wire all the way from the fuel sender to the gauge? Ground is wherever you find it but since the fuel sender is just a couple of feet from the battery, connect to the negative terminal of the battery. Ground on the guage can be connected to the ground terminal on any other gauge or to the ground buss at the helm. Ground for the fuel sender is the metal outer ring of the sender. The wire connects to a tab on that ring or under one of the mounting screws. Metal fuel tanks should also be grounded.
