I recently have my fuel gauge fixed by a shop, the guy tried the gauge on a bench test first and everything worked fine...got home installed the fuel gauge on the boat...s to sender, I to ignition and G to ground..also the sender is fine, but now when I turn the key on the ingnition, the needle goes to the other way, instead of going left to right it goes right to left, does anyone has an idea of why this is happening? thanks in advance for your help.

What was fixed? -- The gauge or the sender? If the tech worked on the sender, it is possible the float arm was installed incorrectly making the gauge read backward. Teleflex has a bulletin about this issue. Some senders cannot be assembled backwards so it depends on what kind you have.

what it was fixed was the gauge itself, it's a teleflex, the one that came with the boat. it has a fuel gauge on the top and a voltmeter at the bottom, the sender works fine and it was never touched. here's a pic of it.

I'm gonna check the sender, because when the guy tested the fuel gauge on the bench he used a diff. sender and that could be problem, thanks for your help.

It sound like your Gauge was fine and your problem would be in the sender unit good luck

Those gauges are normally sealed and are not repairable so my question is still -- "what was fixed".

I've heard that they're not repairable, but since they're not longer being made and I did't wanna change the gauges set up on my boat I decide to get that one fixed, so I found and old guy that works on marine electronics only, he gets work from marine companys all over the word, the problem with my gauge was that the fuel gauge was burned out, he fixed and calibrated the gauge to work with a different sender and when I installed the gauge instead of putting the new sender I kept the old one. I just took the old one out and put the new one and it works fine. thanks to all for your help.
