I am having an intermittent problem with my fuel gauge. The sending units reads 28-260
ohms depending on position and has a linear/continuous resistance reading throughout its travel. It usually works as expected. Occasionally the gauge pointer will max out way past the full mark and get stuck when the ignition switch is first turned on. If I remove the gauge from the console and tap on it it will drop to "E" and work as it should for awhile . I would like to add that the gauge pointer always moves very fast to the
correct position and the problem seems to be that it sometimes overshoots where it should stop. The wiring appears to be correct, 12V is switched to the "I" position when the key is turned on. I am wondering if an inline resistor in the 12v line which supplies
power to the "I" line may help correct this problem. Any input would be appreciated.
