Fuel Gauge not working

Does anyone have some schematics on how a fuel gauge should be wired? Mine is not working at all, and I hate to just replace the sender as a shot in the dark.

I don' think a Schematic is required. The body is grounded to the - side of the circuit and the center post goes to the S on the gauge. Short the center to ground and the gauge should peg past Ful. If it doesn't, it's a wiring or gauge problem. If it does, it's a sender problem. The sender is nothing more than a potentiometer. The gauge gets + power at the I post and - power at the Gnd post. The sender is a variable resistance device. Fuel gauges are basically ohmmeters.

Thanks for the fast response... I have another connection on my sender. One is in the dead center, and the other is off to one side. Should I assume that the second terminal is a ground lead?

yep, if you follow the wire, it is grounded.

Willy, such terms; You must also build your own computers?
