I am trying to replace my fuel gauge on my Key West 186 CC. The new gauge is the top picture and the old is the lower. The wires are diffrent. The new gauage is made by Yamaha. Thanks for any help.

Re: fuel gauge replacement

The only thing that's different is the wire color. Electricity doesn't care about that. Remove the wires from the old gauge (one at a time) and put it on the same terminal on the new gauge. The new guage will be marked + (as for +12V when the key is on). - (as in ground) and S (as in sender) which is the line from the fuel tank sending unit. The other two wires are the light wire (hot and ground). Match the function -- not the wire colors.
