Re: Fuel Gauge Wiring?????????

They are not marked + or - because they typically marked "I" (ignition), "S" (sender) and GND or G (ground). There should be one more terminal labeled "L" (light). "I" is the +12 volt feed which is active only when the key is in the RUN position. "S" is sender line from the sender in the fuel tank. "G" is ground. Ground, I, and L terminals can be connected to any of the same terminals on any of the other gauges. The only exception to this is if the fuel gauge happens to be the first gauge in the string.

Here is the schematic of the fuel gauge system.

Re: Fuel Gauge Wiring?????????

this is very direct and to the point.
i appreciate it.
however,
my predicament is gauge is pegged to full whether sender is hooked up or not.
tried new sender but still pegged to full.

traced everything out, even rewired sender wires,to no avail.

tried wiring positive and negative straight to battery, and ground to battery, and center post of sending unit to gauge,
still pegged to full.

i'm stumped!
help!
