fuel gauge

my fuel gauge does work until about half full, then showing empty.

Is this a common issue or do I need to replace it?

most likely its the fuel sender, can you remove the sender from the tank and move the arm up and down and watch your gauge move, some times you can just clean the little wiper arms on the sender - hope that helps
