Fuel in oil...?

Mercury 2010 25hp EFI 4 stroke with 20 hours on it. Pulled the dipstick out today before a run out to lake to find it overfilled. Took 6 ounces out. Doesn't smell like fuel in it and I was surprised how dirty it is in just 20 hours.

What else would cause the overfill if not fuel? I see no evidence of water in the oil but would water settle down low in the engine and I never reached it with the turkey baster I used to suck the excess oil out with?

Re: Fuel in oil...?

OK I did find something in the manual called "oil dilution" from an engine running cool which may be my problem. I've been running in Lake Superior which has a water temp around 44 degrees still. The manual says if normal fuel and moisture do not get hot enough to evaporate in crankcase it adds to overall volume of oil, that OB engines can handle large amounts of "oil dilution" without causing durability problems.

Either way guess I'll change out the oil and keep an eye on it. I'd still like comment though...
